Grimstroke vs Outworld Destroyer

How this matchup plays

Trying to save an ally with Astral Imprisonment only to see a second hero get banished alongside them is a painful lesson. Grimstroke's Soulbind ultimate is the main reason for his advantage here, as it causes single-target items and spells to affect both leashed heroes. This turns Outworld Destroyer's most reliable save into a potential liability. The latching silence from Phantom's Embrace also puts OD in an awkward spot early on, sometimes forcing him to use Astral on himself to remove the debuff, wasting a valuable cooldown and mana.

This dynamic forces the Outworld Destroyer player to be very careful in teamfights. He can't simply Astral a priority target that Grimstroke has leashed. Instead, he must find an angle on a different hero or wait for the ultimate to expire. The edge is only slight, however, because Outworld Destroyer can often purchase a Black King Bar to ignore the disables, or simply burst Grimstroke from a safe distance. A smart OD player learns to identify who is and isn't a viable target once Soulbind is cast, playing around Grimstroke's biggest strength.
