Grimstroke vs Sven

How this matchup plays

Locking down a charging Sven with Soulbind looks like a perfect plan, but the reality is more complicated. Sven’s entire game plan revolves around getting a Black King Bar, which lets him completely ignore Grimstroke's biggest spell. This turns their main interaction into a split-second duel of cooldowns. If Grimstroke can catch Sven before he activates his magic immunity, it can completely halt an enemy initiation. If Sven gets his BKB off first, however, Grimstroke is left exposed and his most powerful tool is wasted on the primary target.

This dynamic shifts throughout the game. Early on, Grimstroke's harass from Ink Swell can disrupt Sven's farm. Later, a farmed Sven with God's Strength and a blink dagger sees Grimstroke as a prime target, able to delete him with a stun before he can cast his full combo. It all comes down to positioning. Grimstroke wants to play from the edges of the fight and land a key Soulbind before Sven commits. Sven wants to find a clean jump on the backline and remove Grimstroke from the equation immediately.
