Hoodwink vs Primal Beast

How this matchup plays

Picking Hoodwink into a Primal Beast means committing to a game of careful positioning. The squirrel's entire game plan relies on kiting and using Scurry to stay safe in the trees, but this mobility is tested by Primal Beast's kit. An Onslaught charge can close the gap in an instant, and once he's close, Pulverize provides a lockdown that she can't easily escape from. While a well-timed Bushwhack can stop his charge, Primal Beast is tanky enough to shrug off Hoodwink's physical damage and try again, creating a constant threat she has to respect.

Throughout the game, this dynamic favors the beast, but only slightly. Hoodwink has to play near perfectly, using trees and vision to her advantage while chipping away with Acorn Shot and Sharpshooter from a distance. Primal Beast’s job is more straightforward: wait for a positional mistake, then charge in and secure a kill. Because one misstep from Hoodwink is often fatal against his lockdown, while he can usually survive being caught out, Primal Beast tends to have an easier time executing his plan.
