Hoodwink vs Techies

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can hug the trees to stay safe from Techies is a common mistake. Hoodwink wants to use the woods for cover and to land Bushwhack, but these are the first places a good Techies will place Proximity Mines. Scurry might let you dodge physical attacks, but it does nothing against the magical burst from a mine stack. Even worse, if you get caught, the silence from Blast Off! prevents you from using your own abilities to escape. Techies fundamentally makes Hoodwink's preferred areas of the map the most dangerous ones.

This dynamic makes the entire game difficult. In lane, Hoodwink can’t safely roam or pull through mined-out jungle paths. During the mid-game, trying to find a safe spot to channel Sharpshooter is a huge risk, as she has to stand still in areas Techies loves to control. To accomplish anything, Hoodwink becomes completely dependent on her team to provide vision and de-mine, forcing her into a passive role. She can't scout or make her own plays, because Techies has already turned her favorite hunting grounds into a kill zone.
