How this matchup plays

Choosing a durable offlaner is a classic way to blunt the impact of a burst-oriented hero. Tidehunter’s Kraken Shell can purge off the stun from Bushwhack, making it difficult for Hoodwink to land her full combo. Even if she does connect with everything, Tidehunter’s immense health pool and damage block mean he can often survive what would be a lethal amount of damage for most other heroes. This interaction makes it hard for Hoodwink to get the solo kills she often relies on to build momentum, as her primary target can simply absorb the pressure and walk away.

This dynamic means Tidehunter can largely ignore Hoodwink and focus on his own game plan: farm, get his core items, and look for a big Ravage. He is free to create space and be a frontline presence for his team. Hoodwink, in contrast, must play more carefully. She can't simply try to burst down the nearest enemy and must instead use her mobility to find a way around the massive sea creature to reach the more fragile backline. This extra step required from her can give Tidehunter's team a small but consistent advantage in teamfights.
