How this matchup plays

Catching a key target with Bushwhack is how Hoodwink wins fights, but Warlock’s entire game plan is about punishing teams that group up to kill one hero. If Hoodwink gets a clean stun on Warlock from the trees, he's often dead before he can contribute. The problem is that his allies are usually nearby, and he can still cast a clutch Fatal Bonds or even his ultimate before dying. Scurry lets Hoodwink stay safe near trees and potentially dodge the initial Golem stun, but if she's ever caught out of position by Upheaval or the Golem itself, her low health pool means she disappears instantly.

This trade-off defines the matchup at all stages of the game. Hoodwink plays on the fringes, looking for an angle to snipe Warlock or another support before the real fight begins. Warlock, in turn, wants the fight to become a messy brawl where he can land a multi-hero Chaotic Offering. Neither hero has a reliable way to force the fight they want without help. Victory often comes down to which team has better vision and can control the initiation, making this a very situational and balanced contest of positioning.
