Jakiro vs Nyx Assassin

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can catch Nyx Assassin with all of Jakiro's area control feels intuitive, but it’s a trap. Every one of Jakiro's spells has a cast animation, giving Nyx a perfect window to activate Spiked Carapace. Trying to land an Ice Path or even a Macropyre often results in Jakiro stunning himself and his own allies. Nyx also specializes in bursting slow, high-mana targets from invisibility. A hero like Jakiro, with no escape and a large mana pool, is the ideal victim for a Vendetta gank followed by Impale and Mana Burn.

This pattern makes the mid-game incredibly difficult for Jakiro. He can't safely move out to place wards or shove lanes without the constant threat of getting picked off. During teamfights, the fear of Spiked Carapace forces the Jakiro player to hesitate, holding key spells until it's too late. A patient Nyx Assassin can effectively neutralize Jakiro's teamfight contribution without even committing to a kill, simply by making him afraid to cast. Jakiro's only option is to play from the backline with his team and hope they have enough detection.
