Jakiro vs Riki

How this matchup plays

Thinking Jakiro's area denial would be good against an invisible hero is a common mistake. In reality, all of Jakiro's spells have significant cast times and delays. Riki is mobile enough to simply walk out of the way of Ice Path or Macropyre before they land. More importantly, Riki's game plan is to get on top of a target and burst them down. Jakiro’s slow turn rate and lack of an escape mechanism make him a perfect victim. Once Riki uses Blink Strike to get on his back, there's little the dragon can do to turn and fight before being silenced and finished off.

This dynamic defines the game from the start. Riki can easily harass Jakiro in lane and will actively hunt him around the map in the mid-game. A single Smoke Screen is often enough to neutralize Jakiro entirely in a fight, leaving him unable to cast his big spells. The burden is then on Jakiro's team to spend a huge amount of gold on Sentry Wards and Dust just to keep him alive. Even with detection, Riki often finds his opening to jump in, leaving Jakiro unable to contribute before he dies.
