Jakiro vs Slardar

How this matchup plays

Getting caught by Slardar is a death sentence for an immobile hero like Jakiro. All of Jakiro's spells are slow, telegraphed, and designed to control a static area with fire and ice. Slardar completely ignores this plan. With Sprint, he can run straight through Macropyre and other slows, and a Blink Dagger lets him initiate instantly from outside Jakiro’s cast range. Once Slardar is on top of him, a quick stun from Slithereen Crush interrupts any spell Jakiro might try to cast. Corrosive Haze then amplifies all of Slardar's physical damage, making short work of Jakiro's low armor.

From the mid-game onward, the Slardar's primary objective is often to find and eliminate Jakiro before a fight can even begin. This forces the Jakiro player into a terrible position, constantly fearing an instant initiation and needing to buy defensive items like a Force Staff or Ghost Scepter early on. This defensive itemization delays his core items and limits his impact. A threatened Jakiro can't position himself to land a fight-winning combination of his spells, making him a liability against a hero built to exploit his slowness.
