Jakiro vs Ursa

How this matchup plays

Laning against Jakiro feels like walking through mud for a melee hero. Ursa wants to close distance and build stacks, but Dual Breath's persistent slow makes that incredibly difficult. Jakiro can often follow this with an Ice Path, holding Ursa in place for allies or simply to create more space. This kite-and-burn style is Jakiro's whole plan. However, the matchup flips once Ursa gets his key items. Enrage can dispel the slow from Dual Breath, and a Black King Bar makes him completely immune to Jakiro's control, allowing him to run straight at his target and finish the job quickly.

The outcome often depends on which hero gets the jump. An Ursa with a Blink Dagger can easily find and delete a lone Jakiro, whose slow turn rate and lack of escapes make him an easy target. Before Ursa gets those items, though, Jakiro is a constant nuisance who can delay those timings significantly. Later in the game, Jakiro's ability to defend high ground with Macropyre and Ice Path can stall out an Ursa who is trying to end the game. It’s a contest of Ursa’s aggression against Jakiro’s control, and either can come out ahead.
