His Fatal Bonds can also punish the grouped-up positioning that Jakiro encourages with spells like Ice Path. By contrast, Jakiro relies on landing that Ice Path to make Macropyre effective, a combination that is slower and more predictable. Warlock can frequently get his spells off first, disrupting Jakiro's whole plan. The summoned golem is also a durable body that can simply walk through Jakiro's fire and cause problems.

During the lane, both heroes trade harass well, though Warlock's Shadow Word can help his core withstand Jakiro's constant damage over time.
