Keeper of the Light vs Ogre Magi

How this matchup plays

Trading hits in the lane is where this matchup gets defined. Ogre Magi has the health and armor to walk right up to Keeper of the Light and interrupt Illuminate with a Fireblast. This makes it very difficult for the Keeper to secure ranged creeps or harass safely. In response, a well-timed Blinding Light can knock Ogre back, creating enough space for the channel to finish or to escape. The lane often becomes a careful dance of spacing, as Ogre constantly threatens to close the distance while Keeper of the Light looks for safe angles to use his spells without getting jumped.

Later in the game, this dynamic continues. Ogre Magi looks to get on top of key targets, and Keeper of the Light is a prime candidate, especially when he's channeling Will-O-Wisp. Ogre is one of the few supports who can be tanky enough to run through a chaotic fight and deliver a stun. For the Keeper's team, success often hinges on peeling for him and kiting the Bloodlusted enemy cores. Whichever support can better enforce their team's preferred style of engagement—Ogre's direct aggression or Keeper's kiting and control—usually comes out ahead.
