Keeper of the Light vs Slark

How this matchup plays

Drafting Slark into a backline support usually feels like a safe bet, but this matchup is more complicated than it looks. Slark is built to find and burst isolated heroes, and his Dark Pact is excellent for purging off a disabling spell. Keeper of the Light, however, has Blinding Light, which is a perfect defensive tool against a hero who needs to connect with attacks. The knockback can break a Pounce tether or push Slark out of position, while the miss chance ruins his ability to build up Essence Shift stacks.

This dynamic creates a constant game of cat and mouse. During the laning stage, Keeper of the Light can make life very difficult for Slark with Illuminate's long-range harass. Later on, the tables turn as Slark starts actively hunting. If Keeper of the Light gets caught out of position, he’s an easy kill. But if he's with his team, he can use his abilities to peel for his cores and turn a gank around. The outcome of any fight often depends on which hero gets to act first and whether their key cooldowns are available.
