Keeper of the Light vs Spirit Breaker

How this matchup plays

Picking Keeper of the Light often commits a team to a defensive, drawn-out style of fight. Spirit Breaker ignores that plan by singling out the back line. Keeper of the Light wants to channel Illuminate from a safe distance, but Charge of Darkness is a constant, global threat that can interrupt it at any moment. As a fragile hero with no innate escape, he becomes an easy target for Spirit Breaker's follow-up damage. Bulldoze also helps Spirit Breaker shrug off the disable from Blinding Light or Will-o-Wisp, letting him stick to his target through attempts to peel.

Throughout the game, Spirit Breaker will be looking for any sign of Keeper of the Light being isolated, especially when pushing a lane with Illuminate. This forces the Keeper player to stay much closer to his team than he'd like, limiting his map presence. A well-timed Blinding Light can create some space after a Charge hits, but it's a difficult play to execute correctly. Keeper of the Light is often forced into buying items like a Ghost Scepter or Force Staff far earlier than normal, delaying his core utility items and putting his team on the back foot.
