Kez vs Necrophos

How this matchup plays

Trying to land killing blows on Necrophos is a terrible deal for a melee hero. Kez wants to get close and use his stances to out-duel an opponent, but standing near Necrophos means taking constant damage from Heartstopper Aura. This passive drain wears Kez down before any real fight starts, and it can't be parried or dodged. If Kez commits to an all-in, Necrophos can use Ghost Shroud to become immune to physical attacks, leaving Kez swinging at nothing while his own health melts away. It fundamentally turns Kez's dueling strength into a liability.

This dynamic makes the entire game difficult for Kez. He gets bullied out of lane and struggles to farm safely. In mid-game skirmishes, Necrophos can simply walk at him, forcing him to retreat or die. Even if Kez gets a jump on a support, Necrophos's healing and eventual Reaper's Scythe on Kez himself will turn the fight around. The only option for Kez is to build significant magic resistance and hope to burst Necrophos from full to zero before he can react, which is a very tall order.
