Kez vs Ogre Magi

How this matchup plays

Getting stuck with Ignite is a death sentence for a hero who needs to close the gap. Kez wants to get in close to duel opponents, but Ogre Magi’s whole kit is designed to stop that from happening. A parry or stance swap doesn't do much against a point-and-click stun like Fireblast or the constant slow and damage from Ignite. Because Ogre is so naturally tanky, Kez can’t effectively burst him down either. Ogre Magi simply spams his spells and walks at you, and there isn't a lot of fancy footwork Kez can do to outplay that kind of straightforward pressure.

This advantage holds up all game. Laning is miserable for Kez, who gets bullied and zoned by the constant threat of Ogre's spells. In mid-game fights, Ogre Magi can easily peel for his teammates by stunning Kez as soon as he commits to a target. Kez is forced to build defensively, often needing an early Black King Bar, which can slow down his damage progression. To win, the Kez player has to be disciplined, avoid Ogre whenever possible, and pick fights on the other side of the map.
