How this matchup plays

Getting jumped is what Kez is built to punish, and Sand King’s entire initiation relies on jumping in. Kez can anticipate the Burrowstrike and use his parry to turn the gank completely around, leaving Sand King stunned and exposed. This makes initiating on Kez a serious gamble. However, Sand King can play around this with Sand Storm, creating an area of damaging invisibility where a melee duelist like Kez can't effectively fight back. This creates a tense standoff where neither hero wants to commit their main tool first, as a misplay is heavily punished.

The matchup stays on a knife’s edge for the whole game. Sand King will often try to initiate on Kez’s teammates instead, hoping to bait out the parry or simply avoid the direct confrontation. Kez, in turn, is looking to anticipate that initiation and punish Sand King for his positioning.
