Kez vs Vengeful Spirit

How this matchup plays

Trying to jump onto a backline hero is a nightmare against Vengeful Spirit. Kez relies on closing the distance and sticking to a target, but her kit is perfectly designed to counter this. A simple Magic Missile will stun him long before he can get his full combo off, and his parries can’t block a targeted stun. Even if he gets the jump, Nether Swap completely turns the tables. Vengeful Spirit can either save the ally Kez is targeting or, more often, swap Kez himself into the middle of her team to be instantly focused down and killed.

This dynamic defines the game from the mid-game onward. Kez has to constantly worry about Vengeful Spirit’s position before he can even think about committing to a kill. He can’t initiate on his terms. As a carry, Kez needs to be proactive, but against Vengeful Spirit, any aggressive move can be punished so hard that it costs his team the fight. The only real counterplay for Kez is to wait for Swap to be used on someone else, forcing him into a reactive and passive role that severely limits his impact.
