Kunkka vs Lina

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map's tempo with Tidebringer allows Kunkka to out-farm and apply pressure from the early game. This forces Lina to expose herself to farm, making her a prime target for an X Marks the Spot and Torrent combination. Since Lina is naturally fragile, getting caught by this combo is often a death sentence. However, the matchup isn't one-sided. Lina has superior spell range and can constantly harass Kunkka from a distance with Dragon Slave, forcing him to play defensively. Her own stun, Light Strike Array, can also interrupt his initiation or allow her to escape if she has quick reflexes.

The laning stage is often a careful exchange, with both heroes capable of killing the other if an opportunity arises. Later in the game, a core Kunkka will actively hunt for pickoffs on Lina, using Ghostship to close the distance for his team. Lina’s game plan is to acquire a defensive item that lets her survive the initial jump, then turn and delete Kunkka with her heavy magic burst. Success comes down to vision and positioning; if Kunkka gets the drop on Lina she’s in trouble, but if he walks at her predictably, she can often turn the fight around.
