Trying to use Pierce the Veil for a key kill can feel awful against a Kunkka. His X Marks the Spot is a direct answer to Muerta's ultimate, letting him completely control her positioning. If she activates her ult to reposition or chase, Kunkka can recall her to a dangerous spot, effectively wasting the entire duration. The threat of Kunkka’s Torrent and Ghostship combo also means Muerta can be locked down and burst before she even has a chance to go ethereal. This forces her to play with a constant awareness of Kunkka's location and cooldowns.

This dynamic shapes how teamfights play out. Kunkka looks for opportunities to catch Muerta with X Mark before a fight commits, while Muerta is often forced to itemize defensively with items that can block or dispel the spell. If Muerta can get her ultimate off without being marked, she is very effective, but Kunkka dictates the terms of engagement.
