Kunkka vs Necrophos

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst Necrophos down is a real problem for Kunkka. So much of Kunkka's combo damage is physical, and Ghost Shroud completely shuts it down. This forces Kunkka to either hold his spells or use them for minimal effect, giving Necrophos plenty of time to heal up with Death Pulse and turn the fight around. Even a perfect Torrent and Tidebringer combination isn't enough to secure a kill before Necrophos can react. Kunkka’s reliable kill threat gets turned into simple harass, which Necrophos can sustain through without much trouble.

Losing these direct trades makes it hard for Kunkka to control the lane and hit his item timings. He can’t really pressure Necrophos out, so he often falls behind on the farm he needs. In teamfights, Kunkka is forced to play around the Ghost Shroud, either by baiting it out or ignoring Necrophos to find another target. Meanwhile, Necrophos can front-line confidently, knowing Kunkka’s physical damage isn't a major threat, and look for an opening to land a decisive Reaper's Scythe.
