Legion Commander vs Shadow Demon

How this matchup plays

Getting caught by Legion Commander is a nightmare for Shadow Demon. A Blink Dagger initiation gives him no time to react with Disruption before a Duel is locked in. Because he's so fragile and has no escape of his own, Shadow Demon becomes a prime target for Legion Commander to farm permanent damage throughout the game. While Demonic Purge is useful for removing the Press the Attack buff from Legion, this does little to change the outcome once he is caught. He is entirely reliant on his teammates to save him, as he has no tools to survive a Duel on his own.

This dynamic forces Shadow Demon to play incredibly defensively, often from far behind his cores. His main contribution against a Duel is using Disruption to save the targeted ally, but this removes that hero from the fight for a few seconds. A durable Legion Commander can often wait out the banishment and re-engage or simply switch targets. The constant pressure of being hunted severely limits Shadow Demon’s ability to set up kills or control vision, as any step out of position can result in his death and empower the enemy Legion Commander.
