How this matchup plays

Picking these two heroes against each other creates a constant tug-of-war over initiation and saves. Treant Protector’s Living Armor is a direct answer to Legion Commander's goal of bursting a target down during Duel. That global heal and damage block can give the victim enough time to survive or for their team to respond. In exchange, Legion Commander can purge the root from Overgrowth with Press the Attack, making it harder for Treant to reliably pin her down before she finds her preferred target.

This back-and-forth defines the matchup at all stages. Treant Protector will try to play from the trees, ready to use Overgrowth to counter a Duel initiation and turn the fight around. Legion Commander has to play around this, either baiting out the global armor on a different target before she commits, or coordinating her team's burst so precisely that the heal doesn't have time to matter. The outcome of any gank or fight often depends on which hero acts first and whose key ability is on cooldown.
