Lina vs Shadow Fiend

How this matchup plays

Controlling the mid lane often comes down to who can land their spells first. Lina has an advantage here because her stun setup is reliable and happens from a safe distance. It allows her to guarantee her own follow-up damage with Dragon Slave. Shadow Fiend, on the other hand, needs to be closer to land his Shadowrazes and has no built-in way to stop Lina from casting her full combo on him. If he tries to channel Requiem of Souls near her, she can often cancel it from outside his effective range, completely neutralizing his big teamfight spell.

This dynamic means Shadow Fiend has to play carefully. Lina can dictate the spacing in lane, forcing him to choose between taking heavy harass or missing last hits. Later in the game, Shadow Fiend's best chance is to get the jump on an unsuspecting Lina from the fog, ideally with a Black King Bar active to prevent her from stunning him. If the fight is head-on, Lina usually has the tools to react and burst him down before he can get his damage off. The matchup hinges on whether he can farm his core items fast enough to negate her lockdown.
