How this matchup plays

Trying to burst down Viper as Lina often feels like you're fighting an uphill battle. His natural magic resistance and the damage he reflects from Corrosive Skin directly counter Lina's spell-heavy kit, making a full combo of Light Strike Array and Laguna Blade less lethal than she'd prefer. If she can't finish him off instantly, Viper gets to apply his own slows and damage over time. He doesn't need to land a tricky skillshot; he just needs to be near Lina to melt her. The whole fight is a race between Lina's upfront burst and Viper's sustained, corrosive damage.

This dynamic creates a tense standoff throughout the game. During the laning phase, Viper can dominate the lane with Poison Attack, but Lina's superior range and wave clear can help her stay even. Later on, the matchup is all about who gets the jump. A well-positioned Lina who catches Viper with a stun can delete him before he's a factor in the teamfight. A Viper who finds Lina out of position can use Viper Strike to lock her down for his team to collapse on.
