Lone Druid vs Nyx Assassin

How this matchup plays

Picking Lone Druid into a Nyx Assassin often comes down to how you plan to itemize the Spirit Bear. Nyx wants to do what he always does: use Vendetta to find an isolated target and burst them down with Impale and Mana Burn. The real hero is often a tempting target for this. The bear, however, is far too durable for Nyx to handle alone. If the bear is equipped with detection like a Gem of True Sight, it completely turns the tables. A revealed Nyx Assassin is an easy target for the bear's high physical damage and Entangling Claws.

This matchup changes dramatically based on timings. Early on, Nyx Assassin can make Lone Druid's life miserable by repeatedly ganking him before he has a way to deal with invisibility. Once the bear is carrying a Radiance or a Gem, however, it becomes a huge threat to Nyx's game plan. Nyx is then forced to play more cautiously, looking for openings when the hero and bear are separated, or focusing his attention on other heroes entirely. It becomes a constant game of positioning and itemization from both sides.
