Marci vs Muerta

How this matchup plays

Picking a melee initiator into Muerta often comes down to timing. Marci wants to jump in with Rebound and use Unleash for a quick kill, but that plan hits a wall against Pierce the Veil. Muerta becomes immune to Marci's physical damage and can't be targeted by Dispose. Muerta can also use Dead Shot to create distance. The reverse is also true: if Marci catches Muerta without her ultimate, she has excellent lockdown with her stun and throw to secure a kill for her team. It's a direct cooldown trade.

Early roams from Marci can punish Muerta in lane before she has key levels and items. Later, teamfights revolve around this same dance. If Marci can find Muerta without her ultimate available, a quick Dispose and stun is often a death sentence. But if Marci commits Unleash onto a Muerta who then activates Pierce the Veil, Marci is left exposed with her main damage source completely negated. The winner of their engagement is usually decided by who has their ultimate ready and who acts first, making for a very balanced fight.
