How this matchup plays

Controlling the pace of the game is tough for either hero here because their kits directly challenge each other. Marci's whole game plan of using Dispose to isolate a target for a quick kill with Unleash runs straight into Phoenix's defensive tools. Even if Marci gets a perfect jump, Phoenix can often use Icarus Dive to create distance or simply use Supernova. The attack speed slow from Fire Spirits is also a massive problem for Marci, making her Unleash significantly less threatening and making it very difficult for her to destroy the egg on her own.

This stand-off defines how teamfights play out. Marci is constantly looking for an opening to burst Phoenix before he can react, maybe with an ally's help or a key item. A successful pick-off on Phoenix before a fight can be game-winning. Phoenix, on the other hand, plays around Marci's aggression, positioning himself to bait her in. A poorly timed dive from Marci can be turned into a team-wiping Supernova, completely reversing her team's momentum. The outcome really depends on who makes the first mistake.
