Marci vs Sand King

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst Sand King with Marci often feels awkward. Her whole game plan is to jump on a hero with Rebound, throw them with Dispose, and finish them with Unleash. Sand King can interrupt this at multiple points. He can use Burrowstrike to stun Marci as she lands or to simply escape her reach before she can start hitting. If Marci does commit Unleash, Sand King can cast Sand Storm on himself. This makes him invisible and untargetable to her attacks, effectively wasting a big part of her ultimate's duration while she gets worn down by the sand.

This dynamic plays out across the game. During the laning phase, Marci can have a hard time securing kills on a Sand King who can escape so easily. Later in teamfights, Sand King’s area-of-effect stuns are naturally good for peeling for whichever ally Marci decides to jump on. Marci's best approach is to wait until Sand King has already used his spells to initiate, then counter-initiate on him or another vulnerable target. It's a matchup about timing and cooldowns, but Sand King's defensive options give him a small, consistent advantage.
