How this matchup plays

Fighting into a Warlock is tricky for a hero like Marci, who relies on diving a single target. While she can certainly jump on and eliminate a squishy hero, Warlock’s spells are designed to punish exactly that. A well-timed Chaotic Offering can stun her right as she commits with Unleash, leaving her stranded and vulnerable. Even if she gets her spells off, Upheaval creates a massive slowing field that can prevent her allies from following up on her initiation, or stop her from escaping after securing a kill. It creates a zone of control that Marci struggles to operate in for more than a few seconds.

The entire matchup often boils down to who gets the jump on whom. If Marci can find Warlock before a fight begins, he dies almost instantly, removing his teamfight-winning ultimate from the equation. In larger engagements, however, Warlock can stay in the back and wait for Marci to reveal herself. The game becomes a cat-and-mouse of positioning and vision control. Since both heroes have a clear and achievable win condition against the other, the outcome of any given fight feels like a coin toss depending on who makes the first mistake.
