Muerta vs Ogre Magi

How this matchup plays

Trying to use Pierce the Veil against an Ogre Magi often feels like a trap. He can lock Muerta down for a huge portion of its duration with a multicasted Fireblast, leaving her unable to attack while taking heavy magic damage. Since her ultimate only provides physical immunity, Ogre's spells completely bypass her defense and turn her into a stationary target. Even outside of her ultimate, the constant slow from Ignite makes her an easy target for ganks and prevents her from effectively zoning areas with The Calling. Ogre’s whole magical toolkit seems perfectly suited to exploiting Muerta's key vulnerabilities.

This dynamic forces Muerta to play on the back foot for the entire game. She either has to invest in a Black King Bar much earlier than she'd like, which delays her damage items, or she has to wait for Ogre to blow his stun on someone else before she can safely commit. Ogre Magi, on the other hand, doesn't need to do anything special. He can protect his own cores and simply hold Fireblast for the moment Muerta reveals herself. He makes her most powerful ability a liability, forcing her to play from the edges of fights instead of as a primary damage dealer.
