Muerta vs Slark

How this matchup plays

Choosing a carry into Muerta often means planning around her physical immunity. Slark is an interesting answer because while Pierce the Veil negates his damage, he has the perfect tools to handle the rest of her kit. Dark Pact allows him to instantly dispel the fear from Dead Shot or the silence from The Calling, preventing Muerta from easily controlling him or creating distance. Pounce also gives Slark a way to stay on top of her, breaking her ideal kiting position. This means Muerta can't rely on her standard control spells to survive an engagement with Slark.

This matchup evolves into a duel of cooldowns. Slark wants to force out Pierce the Veil and then use Shadow Dance to disengage and wait for her ultimate to end. Muerta tries to hold her ultimate until Slark fully commits, using it to turn a gank around. The fight is often decided by which player gets caught out of position or uses their key defensive ability first. Since neither hero has a fundamental advantage, success comes down to timing, vision, and which player's team can better enable their carry to execute their plan.
