Muerta vs Warlock

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map often comes down to whose ultimate is better in a fight. Warlock has a solid plan for when Muerta uses Pierce the Veil. Since her ultimate makes her vulnerable to magic damage, Warlock's spells like Fatal Bonds and the Golem from Chaotic Offering become significantly more dangerous. Upheaval is also great for pinning her down, preventing her from kiting or chasing while she's trying to get damage out. A well-timed Golem drop can stun her right at the start of her ultimate, wasting a huge portion of its duration. It's a direct answer to her main teamfight contribution.

This dynamic makes fights very dependent on timing and itemization. Muerta can't simply press her ultimate and expect to win a fight if Warlock is present. She needs to consider buying a Black King Bar to block his spells or wait for him to use Chaotic Offering on someone else first. Warlock, meanwhile, is trying to hold his ultimate specifically for her. If he uses it too early, Muerta gets a free window to clean up. This back-and-forth, where each player is waiting for the other to commit, explains why neither hero consistently comes out on top.
