Necrophos vs Night Stalker

How this matchup plays

Catching Necrophos out of position at night is Night Stalker's entire game plan. He needs to land Crippling Fear to prevent Necrophos from using any spells, most importantly Ghost Shroud. If that silence connects, Necrophos is helpless against the physical burst. The reverse is also true; if Necrophos anticipates the gank and uses Ghost Shroud first, Night Stalker’s right-clicks do nothing. He's then forced to retreat while taking heavy damage from Heartstopper Aura and Death Pulse, completely turning the engagement around.

This makes the matchup a tense duel of initiation and reaction time. Night Stalker will use his superior nighttime vision and flight from Dark Ascension to find the perfect angle for an ambush. Necrophos has to play more defensively, sticking with his team and anticipating the attack. The outcome of any given fight often comes down to who uses their key defensive or offensive spell first. A split-second decision determines whether Necrophos gets deleted or Night Stalker gets kited into the grave.
