Necrophos vs Puck

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst down Necrophos is a common mistake for a Puck player. The entire exchange backfires because of Heartstopper Aura. Puck has a naturally small health pool that is constantly being drained, making it very difficult to win trades or even stay in lane. Every time Puck wants to go for a combo, Necrophos can respond with Death Pulse to heal himself and add damage, undoing Puck’s efforts. It creates a pattern of attrition that Puck simply cannot win. Even a successful burst attempt often leaves Necrophos alive, and now Puck is out of spells and vulnerable.

Later in the game, this dynamic gets worse for Puck. Necrophos becomes a durable core who is almost impossible for Puck to kill alone. He forces Puck to play defensively, constantly worried about getting low enough for a Reaper's Scythe. While a well-timed Phase Shift can dodge the Scythe's damage, doing so roots Puck in place, often setting up an easy kill for Necrophos's team. Puck wants to be an elusive initiator, but against Necrophos, every aggressive move is a huge risk with very little reward.
