Necrophos vs Clockwerk

How this matchup plays

Getting trapped in Cogs by Clockwerk is often a death sentence, but for Necrophos it can be an opportunity. While Ghost Shroud amplifies the magic damage from Battery Assault, it also prevents all of Clockwerk's physical attacks and massively boosts Necrophos's own healing from Death Pulse. This turns the gank into a sustain battle that Necrophos is built to win. Heartstopper Aura continuously drains Clockwerk's health in the small, enclosed space, punishing the initiator simply for landing his signature spell. Clockwerk’s initial burst is rarely enough to overcome the rapid healing.

This forces Clockwerk to play a completely different game. Ganking Necrophos is off the table without significant help, as a failed attempt will leave Clockwerk low on health and mana. In larger fights, he has to try and isolate a different target, but Necrophos is free to sustain his own team and wear down Clockwerk's allies from a distance. If Clockwerk ever finds himself low on health after an initiation, he becomes a prime target for Reaper's Scythe, turning his own aggression into a decisive kill for the enemy team.
