Necrophos vs Shadow Demon

How this matchup plays

Saving an ally with Disruption feels like the right play, but it often works against you here. Shadow Demon’s signature save banishes a hero, pausing all damage, but it doesn't solve the underlying problem. Necrophos thrives on wearing targets down with his aura and Death Pulse, not on instant burst. Disruption only delays the inevitable for a few seconds. When the target returns to the fight, they’re still low on health and often in the exact same bad position. This gives Necrophos a perfect, stationary window to reposition and guarantee a killing blow with Reaper's Scythe the moment they reappear.

Throughout the game, this dynamic makes it incredibly difficult for Shadow Demon to protect his team. Necrophos is happy to play a patient game, and waiting out a banish is easy for him. Instead of saving a core, Shadow Demon frequently ends up serving them on a platter. Necrophos can ignore SD for the most part, focusing on whichever hero is lowest and forcing the save. Once Disruption is used, Necrophos knows exactly where and when his real target will be vulnerable, turning Shadow Demon’s best defensive tool into a predictable setup for his own ultimate.
