How this matchup plays

Picking one of these heroes into the other is a deliberate choice to play around a key ultimate cooldown. The constant pressure from Heartstopper Aura makes it difficult for Wraith King to maintain his large health pool, softening him up for a burst. Necrophos doesn't use Reaper's Scythe on him expecting a longer respawn—that part is wasted when Reincarnation triggers. Instead, Scythe serves as a reliable, long-range execute to force Wraith King's first life from a safe distance, often on Necrophos's own terms before a fight gets messy.

This interaction defines how teamfights play out. A successful Necrophos will coordinate with his team to pop Reincarnation, then kite with Ghost Shroud or reposition while the rest of his team handles other threats. The Wraith King player, however, will try to bait the Scythe. If Necrophos uses his ultimate too early, Wraith King can be reborn into a fight where the enemy's main burst spell is now down. The advantage goes to the team that better manages the timing and consequence of forcing that second life.
