Necrophos vs Slark

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can outlast anyone is Slark's whole gameplan, but that approach backfires hard against Necrophos. Slark relies on disengaging with Shadow Dance to regenerate health, but Heartstopper Aura's constant damage prevents that healing from kicking in. He can never truly get away to reset. While Dark Pact can purge some effects, it does nothing against the persistent drain or the physical immunity from Ghost Shroud, which completely negates Slark's damage for its duration. Slark wants a long fight on his own terms; Necrophos ensures the fight is long, but on his terms.

This means that throughout the game, Slark has to be extremely careful about which fights he takes. Jumping a lone support is one thing, but going on Necrophos is often a death sentence. As his health gets lower from the fight and the aura, he enters the perfect threshold to be executed by Reaper's Scythe. A Slark has to either get a massive initiation advantage or build specifically to counter the Ghost Shroud, while the Necrophos player can simply play his normal game and be a constant threat just by existing near the fight.
