Necrophos vs Sven

How this matchup plays

Controlling the pace of the game gets really difficult for Sven when a Necrophos is on the other team. Necrophos has a perfect answer to Sven's physical burst with Ghost Shroud. Going ethereal makes him completely immune to Sven’s attacks, forcing Sven to either change targets or waste the duration of God's Strength. All the while, Heartstopper Aura is constantly chipping away at Sven's large health pool, setting him up for an easy Reaper's Scythe. Sven's entire "get in and hit hard" plan falls apart against a hero he often can't touch.

This dynamic makes mid-game teamfights incredibly awkward. Sven wants to activate his BKB and ultimate to run at a key target, but Necrophos can simply press one button to nullify the entire assault on himself. This stalls Sven's momentum, and once his BKB wears off, he’s a slow-moving target for Necrophos's sustained spell damage. The Sven is forced to consider buying items like Nullifier much earlier than usual, which delays his core damage items and may not even solve the problem if Necrophos positions well.
