Shadow Fiend vs Ogre Magi

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can burst Ogre Magi before he gets his spells off is a common trap. Ogre is naturally so durable that Shadow Fiend's early Shadowrazes barely scratch him, while a single Multicast Fireblast can be a death sentence. The real problem is Ogre's relentless pressure. Ignite constantly slows Shadow Fiend, making him an easy target for ganks and preventing him from farming souls effectively. He has no good way to escape Ogre's lockdown and can't trade hits favorably against such a high-HP hero.

This dynamic forces Shadow Fiend to play from behind. Ogre Magi makes it his job to repeatedly visit SF's lane and shut him down. Even if Shadow Fiend manages to farm a Black King Bar, Ogre is often tanky enough to survive the Requiem of Souls. He can then use his stuns and slows the moment spell immunity wears off, or use items like a Force Staff to kite until it expires. Shadow Fiend needs to be ahead to win, and Ogre is built to prevent that from ever happening.
