Shadow Fiend vs Clockwerk

How this matchup plays

Struggling to find safe farm can really slow down Shadow Fiend’s game, and that’s the core of this matchup. Clockwerk excels at closing the distance with Hookshot and trapping a single target with Cogs and Battery Assault. For a hero like Shadow Fiend who has no natural escape and needs to stand still for his ultimate, getting caught is often a death sentence. This constant threat forces Shadow Fiend to play much more cautiously, limiting his ability to farm aggressively across the map and build a gold advantage.

Throughout the game, Clockwerk will be looking for opportunities to initiate on Shadow Fiend, especially during teamfights, to prevent a big Requiem of Souls. The Shadow Fiend player's main goal becomes surviving this initial jump, which usually means rushing a Black King Bar or Force Staff and paying very close attention to positioning. If SF can survive the lockdown or have his team peel for him, he can turn the fight, but if Clockwerk catches him out of position, his impact is severely limited.
