Shadow Fiend vs Shadow Demon

How this matchup plays

Trying to save an ally from Shadow Fiend with Disruption is a huge risk. The spell gives him a perfect, uninterrupted channel for Requiem of Souls, turning your best save into his best setup. Shadow Demon is also very fragile and has no real way to escape once a farmed Shadow Fiend gets on top of him. While Demonic Purge is a threat, a timely BKB makes Fiend immune, leaving the support completely exposed. This core interaction turns Shadow Demon’s kit against itself.

This dynamic pressures the Shadow Demon player all game. In lane, Shadow Fiend has better tools for controlling the creeps with Necromastery and can build a lead. Later on, Shadow Demon has to be extremely disciplined, often holding Disruption when he'd normally want to cast it on a diving Fiend. The Shadow Fiend player can abuse this, playing more aggressively knowing that SD's main defensive tool is a potential liability. It puts the whole game on the Shadow Demon to play perfectly around one interaction.
