Shadow Fiend vs Tiny

How this matchup plays

Expecting Tiny to delete Shadow Fiend with his combo is a common mistake. The matchup is actually a race against the clock that favors the faster farmer. Shadow Fiend uses Shadowraze to accelerate his gold and experience gain far beyond what Tiny can manage. This allows him to secure a Black King Bar relatively early. Before that timing, Tiny's Avalanche and Toss combo is absolutely a lethal threat. But once the BKB is active, Tiny’s entire magical burst is negated, leaving him with few answers to SF’s high physical damage output.

The result is a mid-game where Tiny is desperately trying to find a pickoff on Shadow Fiend before that BKB comes online, often with a Blink Dagger of his own. Shadow Fiend plays to avoid this, using his farm advantage to hit his timing and then turn the tables. Once he has his key items, SF can confidently stand his ground or even initiate fights. Tiny is forced to play from behind, suddenly unable to safely jump on his primary target and often struggling to contribute in teamfights where SF can fight freely.
