How this matchup plays

Getting jumped by Night Stalker at night is a death sentence for Outworld Destroyer. The moment Night Stalker uses Void to get on top of him, Crippling Fear blankets the area in silence. This completely shuts OD down, preventing him from casting Astral Imprisonment to save himself or retaliating with any of his spells. Unable to use his escape or damage, Outworld Destroyer is left defenseless against Night Stalker's high physical burst and fast attack speed. The core of the problem is that OD's entire survival kit is spell-based, and Night Stalker takes that away instantly.

This dynamic dictates the pace of the entire mid-game. From the first night cycle, the Outworld Destroyer player has to live in constant fear, altering his build for early survival items instead of damage. A good Night Stalker will make it his mission to hunt OD during his Dark Ascension timings, repeatedly killing him to keep him poor and afraid to join fights. For OD's team, the game becomes a difficult escort mission. They must invest heavily in vision and protective supports to have any hope of keeping their core alive through the nighttime assaults.
