How this matchup plays

Picking Ursa into an opponent's draft often means reconsidering if Night Stalker is still on the board. The bear wants to stand and trade blows, stacking Fury Swipes with Overpower to build damage. Night Stalker completely denies this plan. Crippling Fear's area silence prevents Ursa from using Overpower or Earthshock to stay on top of a target, leaving him with only right-clicks. Combined with Dark Ascension's ability to grant unobstructed pathing, Night Stalker can simply fly over terrain to escape or chase, leaving the ground-bound Ursa with no way to connect.

This advantage plays out as soon as the first night begins. Night Stalker actively seeks out Ursa, punishing his attempts to farm the jungle or take an early Roshan. Without his spells, Ursa can't fight back effectively and is easily kited. Ursa's main recourse is to get a Black King Bar to ignore the silence, but that item comes much later than Night Stalker's core timings. By then, Night Stalker has usually already established a strong map presence and tempo that Ursa struggles to break.
