Nyx Assassin vs Ursa

How this matchup plays

Playing as Ursa into a good Nyx Assassin is deeply uncomfortable. The entire plan for Ursa is to hit a target very quickly with a flurry of attacks, but Spiked Carapace turns that burst against him. A well-timed Carapace will stun Ursa mid-combo, completely ruining his initiation and leaving him vulnerable. Even before that point, Nyx’s Mana Burn is a constant drain on Ursa's small mana pool, often leaving him without enough resources to use his abilities when a fight breaks out. It directly attacks both Ursa's damage pattern and his ability to sustain spell use.

This dynamic shapes the entire mid-game. Ursa wants to find pickoffs and secure Roshan, but Nyx Assassin’s scouting from Vendetta makes secret attempts nearly impossible. During teamfights, Ursa has to worry about his target being saved by Spiked Carapace, or being disabled by Impale long enough for his own team to get wiped. This pressure forces Ursa to play passively or commit to a very early Black King Bar, delaying his other core items and slowing down the aggressive tempo he needs to win the game.
