Outworld Destroyer vs Ogre Magi

How this matchup plays

Thinking Sanity's Eclipse will instantly delete an Ogre Magi is a common trap. While the ultimate does hit strength heroes hard, Ogre’s massive health pool and high armor often let him survive the initial burst from Outworld Destroyer. This is a problem for OD, who relies on deleting a key target to win a fight. When the target lives through the combo, OD is left vulnerable with his main tools on cooldown. Ogre is built to withstand that kind of damage and then turn the fight around.

Across the game, this means Ogre Magi doesn't have to fear getting jumped. He can confidently run at the Outworld Destroyer, threatening him with Fireblast. A Multicast stun can easily be a death sentence for OD if his Astral Imprisonment is down. OD's game becomes about carefully positioning to avoid Ogre or trying to a catch a more fragile hero instead. It creates an awkward situation where OD's biggest spell is both very effective and not quite enough against this specific target, giving Ogre a slight upper hand.
