Outworld Destroyer vs Wraith King

How this matchup plays

Facing a Wraith King as an Outworld Destroyer is a frustrating experience. The core of OD's plan is to isolate and obliterate a single high-value hero with a full combo, culminating in Sanity's Eclipse. Against Wraith King, this entire sequence is effectively nullified by Reincarnation. OD can expend all his mana and cooldowns only for Wraith King to stand right back up, ready to fight again. This makes OD’s primary function in a teamfight feel wasted on the enemy’s most important core, forcing him to target less impactful heroes instead.

This dynamic shapes the whole game. Wraith King can play very aggressively, knowing Outworld Destroyer can’t threaten him with a solo kill. In fights, WK can often walk straight for OD, land a Wraithfire Blast, and finish him with right-clicks. OD has no natural escape and is forced to rely entirely on his teammates for protection. The burden shifts to OD's team to somehow kill Wraith King twice, a huge drain on resources, while WK’s team can focus on enabling their carry to run over the enemy's main source of magic damage.
