Outworld Destroyer vs Slark

How this matchup plays

Getting jumped by a Slark can feel hopeless, but Outworld Destroyer has the tools to manage it. Astral Imprisonment is the perfect answer to Pounce, buying several seconds for help to arrive or to reposition. It also stops Slark from building up Essence Shift stacks, which is his whole game plan. On top of that, Slark's naturally low mana pool makes him extremely vulnerable to Sanity's Eclipse. However, a well-timed Dark Pact can purge away slows, and Shadow Dance lets Slark dodge the ultimate entirely, making the one-on-one fight a real test of cooldowns and timing.

The matchup often hinges on who gets ahead first. Outworld Destroyer can dominate the early laning phase, keeping Slark poor and underdeveloped. But once Slark gets a few core items, he starts looking for pickoffs, and OD is a fragile target if caught alone or with Astral Imprisonment on cooldown. Later on, teamfights depend on positioning and key items like a Black King Bar or Scythe of Vyse. Slark needs to find a way onto OD and stick to him through everything, while OD wants to stay safe and land a big ultimate.
